60" x 48"
acrylic, oil crayon, and ink on canvas
This multi media piece interplays the use of oil paint sticks (or oil crayons) and interactive acrylic. The idea is a train charging through the Indian countryside. Watching over above is a Japanese Jesus and Mary.
A little-known legend of northern Japan claims Jesus was buried there. They still celebrate his final resting place in the town of Shingo, where he was said to have been buried at 106 years old.
The Arabic writing is a copy of something my mother wrote down. Pushing through from underneath the painting are previous versions, which makes for a treasure hunt every time you look at this piece.
